Are food and meals provided?

Part of Glenhagen Farm’s mission is to educate kids on their environment and self-sustainability through camping. To gain more experience with cooking, groups that attend the farm buy their own groceries and prepare their own food over the firepit, in the kitchen, or on a gas grill. Food for any group’s stay can be subsidized by their specific payment plan. 

How will my group be supervised?

Leaders of the visiting group are responsible for the supervision and safety of their campers. A Glenhagen Farm Retreat camp director can participate in leading activities like educational nature walks, field sports, or camping.

What types of groups come to the camp?

We have hosted many groups, including but not limited to middle and high schools, social service organizations, youth centers, STEAM after school programs, college students, and interns in environmental organizations.

Are grants and scholarships available?

Groups which serve youth without financial resources and/or which conduct spiritual retreats can be reimbursed for the cost of a school bus to come to the camp and for the groceries purchased by the group.  All fees are waived for such groups.

Other groups pay a market based fee depending on the nature and length of the visit.

What if my group has no camping equipment or experience?

The best thing about Glenhagen is that no prior experience or equipment is necessary! We provide the tents and sleeping pads and teach groups how to set up and take down the tents. All visiting groups need to bring is a sleeping bag or cover and a pillow.

How do I get to Glenhagen Farm Retreat?

To get to Glenhagen Farm, most groups charter a school bus. It is also possible to take the Amtrak train from the city of Chicago to Princeton, Illinois and a school bus can take your group to the camp.
